PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO (January 25, 2022) Humberstone Speedway would like to welcome back Stirling Lubricants as the divisional sponsor of the Sportsman division for the 2022 season.
“Steve Stirling is a big supporter of dirt track racing in Niagara and has been attending the races at Humberstone for decades,” comments Humberstone Speedway owner/promoter Terry Vince. Stirling Lubricants is a major distributor of Champion Racing Oil in the Northeast.
Weekly races at Humberstone will pay $1000 to win for the Stirling Lubricants Sportsman, with $600 for second place, $400 for third, $350 for fourth, and $325 for fifth place. The division will pay $150 to take the green flag. The full purse breakdown is available on humberstonespeedway.ca and on the track’s Facebook page. The Canada Day Showdown, All Canadian Championships, Pete Cosco Memorial, Labor Day Shootout, and the Fall Classic Weekend will have an increased purse with paying the race winner $1500 minimum.
The Stirling Lubricants Sportsman will also have a lucrative points fund for the 2022 season. The top 10 in points will receive payouts, with the champion receiving $1500. The Sportsman will have 20 races on the schedule and drivers will have the opportunity to scratch their worst two finishes, with their best 18 race finishes being used for points to determine the championship. “This will give our competitors an opportunity to enjoy a summer vacation or scratch their worst two finishes,” Vince said.
Humberstone Speedway management has been hard at work raising product and merchandise for the Sportsman and the S&W Service Centre Modifieds for the annual Awards Banquet on November 26th at the Americana Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Anyone interested to add additional support to the points fund can email racehumberstonespeedway@gmail.com
The Stirling Lubricants Sportsman will not be DIRTcar sanctioned for the 2022 season, however, the speedway will run DIRTcar rules with the exception of the verification process of the 602 engine. “This enables race teams to use their current engine platforms and give the time needed for this extra expense,” Vince stated. “Just because the engines are not verified does not mean it is free for all. The tech on the 602 engines will be stepped up significantly in 2022 like never before.” Speedway management will revisit possible DIRTcar sanctioning in 2023.
The 2022 Humberstone Speedway schedule will be available online at www.humberstonespeedway.ca
